Alpine Climbing

SUMMER (June - September) - The European Alps are home to endless mountaineering challenges, alpine snow peaks, fine mixed ridges and technical rock climbs. Dominating the Chamonix valley is Mt Blanc, at 4807m, the highest mountain in Western Europe.
Other challenges in the Chamonix area include the Midi-Plan traverse, the Dent du Geant and the fine climbs of the Chamonix Aiguilles.
Switzerland has the highest concentration of 4000m peaks, the majority being in the areas of Saas Fee, Zermatt and the Bernese Oberland. I can offer an Introduction to alpine climbing, teaching rope work, crevasse rescue and route finding. This can be done on a ratio of 1:3 or 1:4.

Classic peaks such as the Zinal Rothorn or the Aletschhorn can be done on a ratio of 1:2. For more Technical peaks like the Matterhorn or the Weisshorn a ratio of 1:1 is essential.  The classic Chamonix to Zermatt Haute Route takes 8 days through some of the most magnificent scenery in the Alps, this and other high level treks such as the Bernese Oberland can be done on a ratio of up to 1:6.
